(More customer reviews)Ordered this about a month ago. It was intended to cover 1/2 of a double sink for extra work area. I was very surprised at the quality. VERY heavy duty and meant for long life and durability. I liked this Item so much, I ordered a second one today to use as a workboard on another counter. The packing was awesome. The only suggestion is if they could find a substitute for the massive amount of "puff foam" that is non-recylable.

Magic Dough Non Slip Flexible Pastry Mat Review

(More customer reviews)The mat is wonderful for rolling out pastries, and I was surprised by the utility of the measuring circles that are printed on it. But I was seeking to replace a much heftier board, and for kneading stiff bread dough, the "non-slip" feature simply wasn't up to the task. The lateral motion used in kneading overcame the friction between the underside of the mat and the wooden table it rests on. It didn't go flying across the room, mind you, but it did have an annoying tendency to wander.
On the other hand, being able to roll the mat up and tuck it out of the way, rather than find room for a large board, has been a definite plus.

(More customer reviews)This board has many features not described. Although it is very large, it will probably find a permanent home on your kitchen counter since it is multi-functional. First, there is a basic recipe on the board for plain pastry. In addition to having measurements in lenght, width, and 4 different diameters (including diameter for a tart), flip it over and you have the perfect cutting board with wide gooves on each side to catch liquids or other unwanted materials. It is made of solid wood that is of the highest quality; it is worth every penny. This demanding cook could not be more pleased.

The baker--especially one just starting out--will appreciate having the dimensions marked right on this pastry board's rolling surface. Marked with circles for pie crusts and edged with a ruler for bread or other square or rectangular doughs, the board has measurements indicated in both English and metric units. The surface area--made of solid domestic hardwood (only non-endangered, self-replenishing trees)--is more than adequate for most baking needs, and the board is reversible to a plain side for other projects.

Oxo Good Grips Dough Blender Review

(More customer reviews)I do a lot of baking; a lot of different types of baking and therefore need good equipment that is not going to break my piggy bank. I have owned several dough blenders (still have them in the baking section of my kitchen) but found this Oxo brand to be the best of the litter. It fits my hand perfectly and for those of you who do a lot of work with these utensils know, this is very important. Nothing like a good hand cramp to set your day off just right. I suspect that this company has put in quite a lot of research as to the workings of the human hand and they pretty well have it nailed with this product.
The blades of this one (five) are quite stout and do not bend and flex as most do. I hate flimsy utensils, so this one was a real pleasure when I started using it. As to the sturdiness, this one if far superior to the Wilton, Pampered Chief or Anco...there is just no comparison. Trust me, I have used them all.
There are some considerations though. As pointed out by one reviewer, this mixer is not compatible with smaller bowls. I use rather large and heavy mixing bowls so do not have that problem myself, but I can see were some might have. Secondly, cleaning by hand is a chore. I have found the best way to clean this thing up is to soak it for a bit and then simply throw it in the dishwasher. I usually like to hand wash all my equipment, but in this case I go for the washer. The other way I have used is the simple use of a longer bristled kitchen brush.
As an added tip, this is a good tool to make thin butter patties with and to slice eggs for salads..a very nice even cut.
If you do a large amount of "scratch" baking, then this one is going to make life a lot easier for you.

(More customer reviews)I had one of these boards years ago, and I gave it away when I stopped baking bread. When I rekindled my old hobby, I desperately wanted one of these beautiful boards again. It is the same quality as my old Snow River board and is just as sturdy and well made. However, the wood was very dry when it arrived and the sides of the board needed to be sanded, as they were very rough. After the initial "touch ups," it is looking great and was able to be put into service immediately.
If you make homemade bread, you'll love this board. If you just do a lot of vegetable chopping, it works fantastically for that as well. But if you do both, get two boards (to avoid cross-contamination of flavors). It's an heirloom purchase that, with good care, should last several generations!
