(More customer reviews)For the first time, a Wilton product has let me down. We purchased the Halloween Pre-Baked Cookie House Kit to make with our children for the first time. We have been purchasing the Christmas Gingerbread House kit for years and have been throughly pleased every year, so thought this one would be much the same. We were sorely dissapointed. We thought it might have the tray like the Christmas one has - part of what makes it so easy, but it didn't. The walls of the house do not square up. We had to go to extreme lengths just to get the main four walls to match up and kind of stick together and even then, they were not at all sturdy. We could not get the roof to go on (after the walls drying overnight) without collapsing the 4 walls. We used up nearly 1/3 of our frosting just trying this. We ended up with large frosting covered cookies, a bunch of candy that really doesn't taste that good and 2 dissapointed children. I really doubt that we're the only ones who had this kind of problem with this product. It seems as if it was almost an afterthought and just thrown together. If you're going to buy it, buy with caution.

Wilton Pre-baked Gingerbread Tree Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the gingerbread kit for my three year old niece; however, it arrived with one piece of the roof split in two. Everything we tried to do to make the house stand was to no avail. We finally iced the pieces, had some of the pieces stand, and then placed two large rubber bands around the entire house to keep it together.

(More customer reviews)I bought 13 of these to do as a craft for my 11 year old daughters birthday party. I ordered a couple of extra ones because of the other reviews that said they may be broken in shipment. Not one of the houses was broken. The packaging and bubble wrap inside the box protected them very well. The corner of one of the boxes was quite dented so I was sure that one would be broke, but when I opened it, it was fine as well. The pre-assembled houses are so cute! There is no reason to waste time putting them together and holding the sides up with jars, like I have done with other houses.
By the way, the price here from party america is by far the best price. Jo'Annes web site has them at $16.99 which is even higher than the Wilton website at $16.50. Michael's has the unassembled type in the stores for the $10 but again, I didn't want to assemble 13 houses.

Nordic Ware Platinum Collection 3D Turkey Cake Pan Review

(More customer reviews)As stated this is a quality and heavy pan. The turkey shape is fairly realistic. The BIG baking issue is the turkey head and base. Since the "body" is so thick and the head and base are not, they bake quickly and the body does not. For an experiment before turkey day, I baked 2 pumpkin bread mixes one for each side. The head and base were so hard and dry that I cut them off to feed the birds. The body was moist and edible. Amazingly both halves easily stood up on their own, so at least I know that will not be an issue.I will try again today using regular cake mix and will cover the head and base w/ foil to see if that helps. I imagine this same issue will occur with the Christmas tree for the same reason. Other than that, I really like this unique pan.

The recipe on the pan calls for cake flour, which makes the gingerbread light and fluffy- perfect for those who find regular gingerbread too dense. You can easily make a centerpiece for a Christmas party by dusting the cake with powdered sugar. You achieve the gingerbread look, but without all the work of a traditional (assembly required) house.
