Sanelli 302632 Premana Professional 12.5 Inch Bread Knife Review

Sanelli 302632 Premana Professional 12.5 Inch Bread Knife

I first became interested in finding out what was the green knife that Mario Batali had on ICA. Turns out to be a Sanelli legging type knife. I have lots of knives - German and Japanese, stamped and forged, but I was looking for a long bread knife. Lets face it - size matters when you want to slice your own bread, particularly my favorite 3 cheese miche from Panera. You really need a long blade to get the proper sawing action with control to cut the bread.
The Sanelli 12.5 in blade is just the knife I was looking for. It has a long serrated blade, a very comfortable non-slip grip, similar, but possibly better than the Victorinox fibrox grip. I find that feature very important after I bought my Henckels five star knives which become very slippery if wet or dealing with something with fat like chicken. I bought the Henckels because the grip was comfortable, but I didn't foresee that the smoothness of the handle would be so slippery. While I haven't smeared chicken fat over the Sanelli, you can tell that grip is pretty secure.
I find with this knife its sure-handedness lets me make thin cuts on my loaves to as small as 1/4-3/8" without a loss of control. Hey it's one way to cut down on calories when you have a large loaf! LOL I do like the green and red handle, a bit flashy next to my other black-handled knives, but I know where to go right away to find my slicer. Plus if your kitchen table is cluttered most of the time as mine is, you can see where the knife is before getting nicked on the blade (ok, I know it should be left in the block, but I use it all the time. LOL)
Sure, its a stamped blade, but who really cares on a serrated knife anyway? When the time comes that it is dull, just get a new one! they are inexpensive enough. I don't expect that for some time since the blade is very sharp now. Frankly, after spending thousands of dollars over the years on Henckels and such, I find them not as serviceable as the Victorinox, or now this Sanelli. You are more often going to find a professional working with a more practical knife like these, rather than trophy case knives that are $100+
Props to unbeatablesale dot com for the quick delivery and the $15 coupon for leaving them feedback. So if you buy this knife be sure to leave feedback for the vendor - its worth it! Maybe I'll get another one for leaving this too! LOL

Anysharp Knife Sharpener Review

Anysharp Knife Sharpener

I have never taken the time to write a review but this great product deserves all the attention it can get. AnySharp really lives up to its claims. I have owned every knife sharpener from a grinding wheel, oil stone, electric sharpeners diamond and otherwise, as well as an assortment of hand held devices which are all retired now that I have AnySharp. It is safe. It is fast. It can make a cheap super market knife cut like an expensive German knife. Yes the cheap knives may not hold the edge as long but with AnySharp you can restore the edge with a couple of strokes. I have restored old knives to service with this sharpener. It also reaches and sharpens the entire blade better than wheeled devices. I just wish I owned the company or at least a couple more sharpeners for the camping and fishing.

Meaning that this knife is top-notch in sharpness! Watch how you use it, be careful.
It is my all time favorite from slicing a tomato to a thick crusty bread. I can't be without it a minute when I am in the kitchen.

The Silver Point II 5-inch serrated brunch knife is ideal for cutting tomatoes, bread, and bagels. The serrations give it the ability to cut through outer crusts and skins without crushing tender insides. The knife was expertly crafted from high-carbon, no-stain steel in Solingen, Germany, the cutlery capital of the world. For higher precision and edge integrity, the blade was laser cut instead of stamped. Each Wusthof blade is precisely tempered to hold its edge for a great length of time, so external maintenance is rarely required. The knife's unique compound angle tapers from the spine to the edge, allowing for a sturdy, yet extremely sharp edge. It also tapers from the bolster to the tip to give the knife strength and flexibility. The knife features a riveted handle with a contoured shape for comfort and control. Washing by hand is recommended for best care.

I have had this knife for several years - about five. I refer to it as my "favorite" knife. I absolutely abuse it (run it through the dishwasher practically ever other day; leave it in water)and it's still the best knife I have. It's wonderful on tomatoes, all types of fruit, and cutting breads. I can't say enough about it. Buy this knife.

Cuisinart 8-Inch Bread Knife in Hanging Gift Box Review

Cuisinart 8-Inch Bread Knife in Hanging Gift Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Cuisinart 8" serrated knife is fantastic for slicing homemade or artisan bread because the blade is solid, with serrations that are well-spaced for even cutting. The handle is triple-riveted and comfortable in my hand, with a slight weight toward the handle. I've become picky when it comes to my bread knives, and the fact that this reasonably priced one remains in my kitchen says a lot. One of my bread knives has serrations spaced father apart, and the slices end up ragged. Another one has blade that is too thin to slice through crispy crusts. Another one is too short to be useful. The one is one of my favorites, lagging behind only my J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife which has a better, sharper blade. This knife is generally less expensive than the Henckel version, and therefore makes a great choice for a more budget-conscious consumer who still wants a quality product.

Montana Knife 7302 9-Inch Offset Bread Knife Review

Montana Knife 7302 9-Inch Offset Bread Knife

This is a serious knife for someone who likes bakery or home baked bread, and wants a good slicing tool. I would call this a commercial or restaurant grade cooks tool, for someone who appreciates function over looks. Not a fancy shmancy German brand or designer knife with Elk horn handle. Why waste your money? Very sharp and ready to cut out of the package. Please don't put it in the dishwasher if you want the maintain the cutting edge. Just wipe it down with a paper towel and put in back in the wooden rack or blade guard. This is true for any quality knife. The length is good for a full loaf of bread, and the raised handle is neat for keeping your knuckles off the cutting board.
Good knife and a great price. Makes a great gift for someone who appreciates good cooking tools.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife Review

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife
Average Reviews:

if you like bread and don't cut it 24h hours a day, buy this knive instead of the 4 star version.
why?
- the twin select are nice sharp knives
- it is a bread knive, you don't use it so often like a chef knive!
- the handling is fine
- it's cheap
I own 2 twin selects and 4 4 stars. And must say the handling of fourstar is better and you want to have the filet knive or chefs knive from this series, or better some japanese knieve ( way sharper, but hard to maintain, I'm lazy), but for cutting bread, go with this one, the handling is not so important for cutting bread, and it does'nt squeeze my ciabatta or french bread!

I bake bread on the average of three times a week. With my old bread knife I could never slice the bread while it was still hot because it would just mash it down and the dough would stick from crust-to-crust. This baby slices right through the bread hot out of the machine like a hot knife through butter. With this knife you can slice the bread as thin as you like and you will have beautiful, even slices at a terrific price!
