(More customer reviews)I have the 12x16 version of this board, and I really loved it up until a few days ago. Good knife feel, lots of control, non-slip, attractive, and cleans up easily. Unfortunately, after about four months of daily use, it has bowed slightly. It is no longer stable on the counter if I set it grooved-side-down. I've placed a sheet of shelf liner underneath to rectify the problem, but it sort of defeats the purpose of why I bought it in the first place.
I am careful about keeping my wooden utensils and cutting boards well-oiled and away from excessive moisture, so it wasn't due to neglect.
I also scarred up the silicone edge a bit, when I was slicing vegetables near one side of the board. Not a huge problem, just unsightly. Also, there's a slight edge on the silicone sides that makes it difficult to sweep food off. Just make sure to sweep off one of the long sides.
I'm going to see if Oxo will exchange it for me; I'm hoping it was just a fluke.

Mountain Woods 16 Inch Round Serving/Cutting Board Review

(More customer reviews)I was delighted to find these affordable boards after scouring the net for a 16 inch round tray, plate or board to use for serving Ethiopian food. It is very hard to find any large round, especially one that is flat and without a lip. What a neat, clean kitchen tool! I got 2 boards, and they are just big enough for the huge injera (sour dough bread), which is used as a plate for Ethiopian meals of kik wat (lentil stew), shiro (split peas), rice and salad. This way I can lay out the injera, place all the ingredients on it and bring it to the table easily. Ethiopian food is an absolutely fabulous taste treat, and this adds to the fun! My biggest problem is where to store them! With the pizza peel, i suppose. I love my new servers, and will probably paint some designs on them, knowing that if I screw that up, they can always be turned over!

Wusthof 2036 Bamboo Cutting Board Review

(More customer reviews)I received this Wuestof cutting board as a gift, along with some Wuesthof knives and kitchen shears. (if you would like to read my reviews for these items, click on "see all my reviews".) It's a good combo; I only had plastic cutting boards, and the wooden ones better for your knives. Plastic ones (and don't get the really hard ones)are useful for cutting meat, and putting into the dishwasher; but the wood looks nicer. Also,it is made from bamboo, a renewable resource, and not from petrochemicals.
This 8X12 cutting board is just right size for slicing, dicing and chopping up a few veggies. The Wuesthof 4.5 inch "multi-prep cook's knife" works very well for this. The Wuesthof logo is imprinted on the front side, but I don't see "Emeril" on it anywhere. The back side of the board is a cutting board,too, but it also has four rubber "feet" which add stability when used right-side-up. Groves on either side provide easy hand-holds. Flip it right-side up, pair it with a cheese knife, and you're good to go for serving cheese.
Good price/value. Treat it well--don't use the dishwasher or serrated knives, condition it with mineral oil from time to time. Highly recommend.

Architec Acacia Gripper Raw Edge Cutting Board, 11 by 17-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)I like the raw edge trend and thought this cutting board would make a good presentation piece for cheeses. In person it's less of a true raw edge and more that one edge is distressed or sanded down. So it doesn't have the same rugged, earthy visual impact as pictured. Also there was a bit of a putty repair on the surface which is fairly obvious. However it is a solid board, the wood is good quality and it doesn't slip. So if you're looking for a utilitarian cutting board this is fine, but if you're searching for more of a unique statement piece it's not a great choice, the detail work just isn't there.
