(More customer reviews)With a theme of pigs going on in my kitchen, I just had to buy this when I saw it. My grandmother use to have one in her kitchen, but this one is a modern version of it. The bamboo is beautiful and I haven't actually used it to cut on. It makes a lovely wall hanging. It's thick and smooth, too. Really nice!

Wusthof 2036 Bamboo Cutting Board Review

(More customer reviews)I received this Wuestof cutting board as a gift, along with some Wuesthof knives and kitchen shears. (if you would like to read my reviews for these items, click on "see all my reviews".) It's a good combo; I only had plastic cutting boards, and the wooden ones better for your knives. Plastic ones (and don't get the really hard ones)are useful for cutting meat, and putting into the dishwasher; but the wood looks nicer. Also,it is made from bamboo, a renewable resource, and not from petrochemicals.
This 8X12 cutting board is just right size for slicing, dicing and chopping up a few veggies. The Wuesthof 4.5 inch "multi-prep cook's knife" works very well for this. The Wuesthof logo is imprinted on the front side, but I don't see "Emeril" on it anywhere. The back side of the board is a cutting board,too, but it also has four rubber "feet" which add stability when used right-side-up. Groves on either side provide easy hand-holds. Flip it right-side up, pair it with a cheese knife, and you're good to go for serving cheese.
Good price/value. Treat it well--don't use the dishwasher or serrated knives, condition it with mineral oil from time to time. Highly recommend.

The first board I have not stashed away to reduce clutter, this is a show peice. Just be sure to oil it every other day per instructions for the 1st month.

(More customer reviews)The 13.8 x 11 board is smooth like glass, strong, yet lightweight. The surface looks like a spot drawing. I've never seen a bamboo board so I guess that's what bamboo is supposed to look like. The board is non-porous; water runs off in big droplets. I covered it with mineral oil as the directions stated and the surface is still non-porous and looks about the same color. I've had the board a few weeks and used it a few times and it seems to be well constructed. Totally Bamboo sent the cutting board wrapped in a pretty straw bow.

Architec Acacia Gripper Raw Edge Cutting Board, 11 by 17-Inch Review

(More customer reviews)I like the raw edge trend and thought this cutting board would make a good presentation piece for cheeses. In person it's less of a true raw edge and more that one edge is distressed or sanded down. So it doesn't have the same rugged, earthy visual impact as pictured. Also there was a bit of a putty repair on the surface which is fairly obvious. However it is a solid board, the wood is good quality and it doesn't slip. So if you're looking for a utilitarian cutting board this is fine, but if you're searching for more of a unique statement piece it's not a great choice, the detail work just isn't there.

(More customer reviews)My compliments to Totally Bamboo and Amazon for carrying such a quality product - I highly recommend it. The shipment arrived promptly, and the block was well packed and protected. When I opened the box, I couldn't believe how beautiful - and brawny - this block is. The pictures don't do it justice. It is extremely well made - tightly crafted, very smooth and silky to the touch, substantial, but not too heavy to easily lift and move. The legs are just the right height and the rubber feet hold it nicely in place. It gives a very satisfying "thunk" when chopping - and dicing, slicing and mincing are a joy. Very easy care - wipe with hot, soapy water or vinegar and treat with wood oil as needed. Goodbye, wimpy acrylic and rough wood............hello beautiful bamboo! I give it a big TEN and will be purchasing more Totally Bamboo products.
Edited to add: Since purchasing this chopping block, I have discovered a wonderful product for treating wood and cast iron. It's a food grade mix of beeswax and mineral oil and can be found on eBay, sold by Wooden Wonders. Name is Beeswax Butcher Block Conditioner. It's thick and has a firm texture, meaning more beeswax and less oil. Great product!

(More customer reviews)I bought this because it is made from real wood and from Oregon, not imported. I like the litte size. Very cute round and great drip edge! The drip edge is very deep. I don't see how I can make a mess with it.
I like this size for quick chops. Yes, you can see some marks from the knife, but that is better than on the counter. Easy to clean and drys up quick.
I look forward to buying other pieces. I checked out the manufacturers website and they have a very large offering of products. I bought a bread knife and a larger rectangular board as well. With the 4-3 offer, I got a left handed bread knife for my brother in law's xmas gift!
Did I mention, it feels like you are using a work of art? The wood is beautiful, very rich in tone and color. The natural variation is gorgeous.
