(More customer reviews)Board looks super, but was slightly rough in a couple of spots; sandpaper took care of that quickly enough (though that region lightened as I took off a little stain, so I had to sand the entire surface to balance out the shade again). Conveniently reversible -- this is a solid, impressive slab of wood.
If you want it to last, and not collect bacteria or just plain bad flavors, wood boards should always be treated with common mineral oil (not vegetable oil, which will tend to spoil rancidly over time) before first use, and periodically thereafter.

(More customer reviews)Mine arrived damaged. Otherwise, the cutting board top is nice and solid. However, the drawer doesn't close all the way and certain of the newer cutlery doesn't fit inside. Also, very big and bulky. I opted to go for the Wustoff drawer knife tray that fits nicely in any kitchen drawer.

(More customer reviews)I bought this board as a Christmas present for my son-in-law, and he loves it! His criteria for a new board included: reasonable size (so he could bring it to the table) and a trough and well to catch meat juices. This board has those attributes, plus it is well made with small rubber feet to hold it secure while carving and handles (carved into the underside of the board) so it can be carried easily to where ever you like. I looked at every carving board on Amazon and on many other websites; many were nice, but none had ALL of the features I've mentioned -- plus -- a very reasonable price! I would not hesitate to recommend this board. By the way, there is NO ONE on the web that has the selection of carving boards you find on Amazon -- thanks, Amazon!

(More customer reviews)This is a very nicely made cutting board and a great value at the price. BUT, I think it is a bit too big for use as an everyday board. I purchased both this board and the medium Mundial cutting board. They are identical except for the size. After having had them for a month or so, I have found that I use the medium board nearly everyday, while this board is a bit too large and heavy for use as an everyday cutting board. Rather, it is the board you break out for those big turkeys and hams on Thanksgiving & Christmas.
The bottom line is if you are looking for one everyday cutting board, I highly recommend the medium version of this board instead of this one. Or, do like I did & get both and have this one "on standby" for large roasts and poultry.

The first board I have not stashed away to reduce clutter, this is a show peice. Just be sure to oil it every other day per instructions for the 1st month.

(More customer reviews)What happens when you take razor sharp, tempered, high-carbon steel knives to wood? Well duh, the knives cut into the woood. I'm so tired of hearing complaints about wooden cutting boards showing knife marks. I read one review where the writer complained that they would probably have to replace the board after a few years. This is natural. If you don't want to see cut marks or replace your cutting board ever, get a slab of marble. It's bad for your knives, but these people seem not to care about that.
This Farberware 3-piece cutting board set is great. For the price, it's fantastic. These are the only cutting boards your average home cook should need. They are reversable (though only one side has grooves) and offer three various, useful sizes. The large is about the size of two sheets of paper side by side; big enough yet still managable in the sink to wash. The medium is about the size of one sheet of paper. The small is about the size of your avarage hardcover book. All are about as thick as the handles of your knives.
They are hard wood providing a nice cutting surface. The wood is well oiled to help protect it from water damage. After a while, your bound to have many cut marks, but so what? Take a look at the price again. You buy cutting boards so they take the damage, not your knives (or your counter).
The boards I received were all smooth and straight (not warped). None have any signs of cracking and seem well made. They are easily worth two or three times the price amazon.com sells them for.

Also, the trench/channel around the outside is a little wider that I thought it would be, so it is really easy to get in there and clean it out. I will probably buy other products from this company, and it is nice to have quality products made here in the US.
