And the price is truly unbeatable. An exceptional item for an exceptional price!

Bayou Classic 7470, Cast Iron Baking Pan, 20" x 3" Review

(More customer reviews)You gotta love the party spirit of the Bayou Classic company. Rule #1 of their instructions warns that it's for "sober adult operation ONLY!" You won't find that on a Cuisinart or Le Creuset pot! They also tell us how to season the pan with "solid vegetable shortening (Lard, Crisco or bacon drippings are best)". Maybe in the Bayou, vegetables are defined as things that aren't moving?
Cooking philosophy aside, everyone should find an excuse to buy this pan. It is massive and heavy, as all the reviewers have noted, and completely indestructible. Your great grand children will curse you for it because it's so large and hard to store.
My excuse was making sourdough baguettes using a version of the Jim Leahy no-knead bread recipe. I figured if it works to use a cast iron Dutch oven to capture the moisture from the dough, maybe I could do the same for baguettes in a pan like this if I covered it with aluminum foil or a sheet pan. So far I haven't got it right, but I'm having fun anyway. Maybe I should pay more attention to Rule #1...

Contemporary Cutlery 6.5" Sandwich Knife Review

(More customer reviews)This knife is amazing!!! it replaces a bread knife, a paring knife, and a Chef's knife... because it can do everything!!! I work at Bed Bath and Beyond and we don't carry this knife at the moment but i have been doing my very best to make sure we do, a Calphalon rep. gave me one of these knifes to try out, and i haven't been able to put it down since... On a regular basis i refer people to Calphalon's Website to check this thing out, for anyone who is fed up with trying to sharpen your serrated bread knife look no further, as it has no serrated edge but still cuts through bread, and even if you were to allow it to get dull, due to the wavy pattern of the blade it still slices through tomato(even squishy tomatoes) with ease. I really can't say enough... best design of a knife i've seen, hands down... who knew a sandwich knife was the missing tool of my kitchen... also well weighted, and solid in the hand as with most other large Calphalon Contemporary knifes... To whoever takes the plunge and buys this unique knife, you will be happily surprised... and did i mention it also cuts through sandwiches really well( as to be expected i guess).... i'll say it one last time, because it really is that good, amazing Knife!!!

Cuisinart 8-Inch Bread Knife in Hanging Gift Box Review

(More customer reviews)This Cuisinart 8" serrated knife is fantastic for slicing homemade or artisan bread because the blade is solid, with serrations that are well-spaced for even cutting. The handle is triple-riveted and comfortable in my hand, with a slight weight toward the handle. I've become picky when it comes to my bread knives, and the fact that this reasonably priced one remains in my kitchen says a lot. One of my bread knives has serrations spaced father apart, and the slices end up ragged. Another one has blade that is too thin to slice through crispy crusts. Another one is too short to be useful. The one is one of my favorites, lagging behind only my J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife which has a better, sharper blade. This knife is generally less expensive than the Henckel version, and therefore makes a great choice for a more budget-conscious consumer who still wants a quality product.

This knife is an excellent addition to any cook's kitchen. High quality steel, sharp as a razor, beautifully balanced with a handle that fits a woman's hand. Definitely worth the price.
