(More customer reviews)I had very high hopes for this oven. It has the Calphalon name on it. Their PR write up sounds so promising. The warranty is good. The oven is handsome. Too bad it fails as an oven though. I tested this oven thoroughly upon receipt. I knew I had to make sure this was a keeper given the price. Save your money and buy a $60 toaster oven. It is important to share that I never use a 'big' oven. Normal ovens pull 3500 watts. They cost a fortune and the overwhelming majority of people don't need such a cavernous appliance. So I bake a lot and everything in countertop ovens. This oven suffers from bad design flaws. You can only use the middle rack position or you will burn the top or bottom of your food. There is almost no internal clearance for anything but the shallowest casserole dish. If you use the rack in the inverted position facing downwards (it has a 'dip' design to - not flat) and pull the rack out to safely remove the dish, the dish slides at a fast clip right out of the oven - almost lost a dish as it rapidly headed for the floor. This is happening because the rack tips down once you pull it forward enough to safely grasp the hot pan. Now I had to flip the rack and use it in that position due to the excessively low clearance - my small casserole dish wouldn't fit and I couldn't move the rack down lest I burn the food - you see where this circle never ends. This occurred regardless of using a casserole dish or a bake sheet. And the back left quadrant cooks much faster than the rest of the oven. I had to watch the food and rotate the pan - talk about aggravating. The back of the oven is actually angled forward presenting a really strange limitation on what it can really hold. I tested many different types of items in the oven to be as thorough and fair as I possibly could especially since it came in such a large packing box. It is going to be a pain to return but return I must unless I feel like cursing everytime I attempt to use it. I am wondering if the people who designed this ever actually used it? A few design changes and this product wouldn't be such a beast.
Clarification: There is an 'edge' to the rack that, when used with the invert facing upwards will stop any dish from sliding out. But the loss of clear space above means only pans or very shallow dishes can be used. Tried using it in this position in the lowest slots but that was still so close to the lower elements that the bottom of the cinnamon rolls burned. Just want to be specific about the issues faced. I am looking for a counter top oven that does more than just pizza, biscuits, etc.. I believe the enclosed user guide mentioned you could use this oven to cook a chicken. It had better be either a cut up one or a miniature one.

(More customer reviews)Getting tired of spending out the nose for hot food at ski slope restaurants, I decided to try this Thermos food jar.
The size is great. It takes up minimal space in my pack. Unfortunately the 16 ounce capacity doesn't quite hold a whole can of soup (about 18 ounces). There are 2 lids: the outer stainless lid helps insulate the top. The inner lid seals tightly to keep any liquid inside. It also holds an ingenious foldable stainless steel spoon. Opening the inner lid reveals a large mouth, making it easy to fill. The inside walls are stainless steel and the whole thing is dishwasher safe (top rack), making it a breeze to clean.
The Thermos sk3000mb4 is rated 9 hours for cold food, 7 hours for hot. While I can't attest to its cold rating, hot food seems to stay "hot" for nearly 5 hours. After that it's more like warm food.
Overall, this is a great food jar that allows me to happily avoid paying outrageous on mountain food prices and has paid for itself in only 2 days on the slopes.

(More customer reviews)Only a true Kitchen Aid mixer fan would buy so many of these. I started out over twenty years ago with a cream one, traded, then got the 5 qt industrial gray and gave it to my sister, then a black 5 qt which my husband gave to a friend because he felt we didn't need two, and my favorite, this one. I also gave a cobalt blue 5 qt to my brother in law although he rarely cooks and often works in Belgium and Japan; and a bright red one for another friend. I sold commercial restaurant equipment for 17 years and their products were essential to our business so I write from more than personal experience.
For my home with cherry cupboards the rich copper mixer earns a place on my counter. This is a hard working and beautiful companion in the kitchen especially if you can't afford the space or price of its larger model. I will be getting the new sweep batter paddle for it next since I already have grinders, juicers and every other attachment.
Just remember these are very heavy and should go on the counter rather than on a shelf or in the garage. Use the paddle for mixing heavy batters and the dough hook for bread. Don't get stuck using just the wire whisk for everything. I keep all the paddles in the bowl.

Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls - Set of 4 Review

(More customer reviews)I needed to replace a set of aging, dented old stainless mixing bowls. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyplace local that had a decent set. I wanted something heavy and durable, with commercial quality. These certainly fit the bill.
These bowls are made of a thick, high quality stainless steel. They have an edge across the rim that makes gripping them easy and comfortable. They're deep, which means that there is minimal "slop factor" when mixing liquids in them. I have a young daughter who likes to help in the kitchen, and sometimes gets a little over-animated in her mixing!
I've worked as a baker and chef, and can say that these bowls would easily stand up to the rigors of a commercial kitchen. Down sides? Some people may not appreciate the weight. Drop one on your floor and they'll leave a dent in the floor. Drop one on your foot and you may need to visit the doctor. Also, the largest of the four is big, and some may find the set takes up a lot of room in their cupboard. But, I'd say that these are not concerns of anyone wanting an indestructible set of mixing bowls that will last them forever.

Last week I made the mistake of thinking it was still in lock proof mode, dropped it in my purse and ......guess what spills. Took it home and tested it several times, took the lid apart put it together, still fails to keep my drinks from spilling. The lid has written on the inside, "patent pending", maybe they need to take this one back to the lab.

I wanted to get one like my mom's, and this turned out to be less expensive, but a much better quality and heavier weight. I bought 2 of these, along with 2 of the smaller cookie sheets as part of Amazon's 4 for 3 promotion, and it only came to about $30! That is an incredible deal for stainless steel pans of this quality. I would absolutely recommend these.

(More customer reviews)Put in 4 slices of toast and each slice comes up done to a different degree. Worse, for a given piece of bread one side may be done while the other is nowhere close.
When you look down into the 4 slots and see different glow intensities on each of the faces you see why this happens. Another reviewer wrote about getting one bad one, then replacing it with one that worked just fine. I just took back my 3rd one and gave up.
Its looks alone are worth a couple of stars. But I sure wish it worked.

Three Piece Stainless Steel Lunch Box Set Review

(More customer reviews)I love this container set but I'm not sure if other people would.
First, it is much smaller than other SS containers on the market and would not fit an adult-size sandwich. The size is perfect for my pre-teen daughter who eats a morning snack at around 10AM before lunch. I pack her PB&J or thin turkey sandwiches with crust cut off so they fit perfectly on the bottom. The top layer gets frut/veggies and the sidekick holds dry chips, pretzels or cookies. I especially love the sidekick container and wish they sold them separately.
The SS material is not heavy-duty but that's fine with me 'cuz I like it light weight. I expected cheaper material because it's 18/0 but it was nice shiny material throughout. In fact, finger prints get all over the shiny surface, but again, I don't mind that. Over time, I'm sure the shine will wear off, but since there's no paint anywhere, the vintage look will add to the charm.
Design-wise, I love the rectangular, modular shape (so hard to find!). There is not an inch of wasted space when I pack lunch in these containers.
Clasps - When I first got the set, the clasp on one side was too loose to hold down the top container. I had to use my wrench to curve them down. Even now,I can't interchange left/right when I stack them or else the clasps don't fit right.
These are not the Rolls Royce of SS containers, but I'll get lots of mileage out of these for the money. I got them at really good price here... I see them elsewhere online for almost $30!! There are no bells and whistles, but plain is good for SS containers in my book.

This was the second brand of toaster I had to return - also returned a Black & Decker - both would only toast one side! Seems like they'd have it right by now. I finally bought one of the refurbished Cuisinarts (an $80 toaster for $30), thinking I could put a spotlight on it and use it as a display piece if it didn't work, but the Cuisinart is a great toaster! I guess you get what you pay for (unless you buy refurb ;)

Farberware Pro Stainless-Steel 15-Piece Fine-Edge Knife Set with Block, Black Review

(More customer reviews)Had the knives two weeks, and was really impressed by the look feel and cut. However, after a couple of washes, rust spots began appearing. I suppose if I washed them all by hand and dried them off right away instead of air drying this wouldn't have happened(my fault..(?) ). I expected better, since I've had cheap K-mart knives for 10 years that didn't rust. I contacted farberware and they did say that if I return the rusted knives they would exchange them, with a turn around time of 6-8 weeks.
