For example, I can use the flat edge to quickly scoop up a thin layer of sauce and baste fish, even when the nonstick pan is still 400+ degrees. And my cookie recipe actually makes 24 cookies now instead of 22 and brown sink water.

(More customer reviews)What a nifty little item this is and it has brought some peace to our tumultuous household, and indeed, marriage. I note it has been said that this is the ideal kitchen utensil to be use by children making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This is quite true, but in our case, it is not the children who need the help and/or training, but rather me! I love PB&J sandwiches and snack on them quite often. It has long been a point of contention between my wife and me, in that I tend to get the peanut butter in the jelly jar and jelly in the peanut butter jar. Messy, messy, messy. I don't really mean to do this but it seems it is in my nature to make a mess of such things when I muck about in the kitchen.

My wife is an understanding lady; a lady with infinite patience; quite likly to become a Saint when the time comes, make no mistake, but after 47 years of ranting (this for some reason is a sore spot with her), she finally took action and purchased one of these little items for my use. I must say it works perfectly and since about a month ago I have not had to listen to one sarcastic remark, receive one lecture, or endure one of her dark and penetrating looks of disgust and distain. Shivers!
This Cuisipro Peanut Butter and Jelly Spreader performs just the way they say it will. Being color coded, I find that even I can remember which end to use during each phase of building my sandwich. The two food jars stay pristine and true to their original contents; no cross contamination or pollination or what ever you want to call it here, no, no, no! This makes her happy and certainly takes much stress out of my life.
The length of this thing is adequate and it allows you to make a nice even spread of the peanut butter, which as all lovers of this classic food know, is extremely important. The jelly, depending one what flavor is more problematic due to the consistency of the various varieties, but as I always use either cheap grape or more expensive elderberry, I have mastered those two perfectly. I doubt if I will experiment with other flavors of jelly due to the fact that after all these years I am a bit set in my ways so I am not going to worry about it. Let the younger folk, the more daring, find for themselves if this item works on strawberry preserves, marmalades and jams. My adventuresome days are over.
Clean up is a snap as a quick run under the water tap and wipe from a paper towel leaves absolutely no residue smeared on the counter top...something else that seems to throw her, i.e. my wife, into a state of extreme agitation. The one small problem I did find was the same that another reviewer here has already mentioned. If you use the jelly end first, then reverse for the peanut butter, then you tend to get jelly on your hand. Now it is a known fact that if you put the peanut butter on last, the sandwich simply DOES NOT taste right. I have found that simply licking the jelly off the fingers works best and is rather enjoyable. If my hands happen to be dirty at the time, then I let my dogs do it. They seem to enjoy it and I share my sandwiches anyway.
Now the 25 year warranties is nice, make no mistake, but for me that is rather moot as it is quite unlikely that I will make it to the warranty cut off date. It is comforting to know though that it will last longer than I will and I am safe from and spared her wraith.
I do highly recommend this product. If you share my traits in this area, it will make your life so very much more pleasant. Now....if I can just remember to reseal the bread and put the lid back on the two jars and place the jelly back into the refrigerator, or.....well, I will work on those things later.

(More customer reviews)Works pretty well on "dry" dough like breads and cinnamon rolls. Moister doughs like pastry still require some flour. Cleans up very easily and doesn't slide around at all unless the counter underneath is wet.
Would have given it four stars if it was about 30% cheaper. If it truly was nonstick with every dough I would have given it five stars even at the current price.

(More customer reviews)You may have seen sheets like these on cooking shows or at fancy stores under the Silpat name selling for huge sums of money and were discouraged. Well, let me end any confusion and tell you that these work the same way! They are like having permanent non-stick surfaces for baking, roasting, and even candy making. You may be a bit scared to put this plastic looking sheet into the oven at first, but don't worry, as your food would be charred before it would ever melt.
You may have been very frustrated by candy making in the past because the hot sugar would stick to anything that wasn't caked in non-stick spray. Fear no more, as this slippery wonder is a great working surface for kneading it while it's still hot or after it has cooled. If you want to keep it malleable for a longer period of time, set up a small heat lamp over the work surface.
What about cookies? I was shocked with how well they baked. Needless to say, nothing sticks (I was even able to just pick the sheet up and slide them onto a plate), but the surface also helped for even heating of the bottoms in our wonky oven that normally burns them. This was the most even browning I've ever seen, and required less effort than normal. It makes me much less nervous about putting baked goods into the oven. The downside is that cookies that rely on an ungreased cookie sheet to maintain proper form will spread on these sheets in a manner similar to a baking sheet sprayed with Pam. Fortunately, those cookies are typically laden with butter and do not stick anyway.
A bonus feature is that you can place this on a cookie sheet underneath a pie that might boil over in the oven. This can save hours of cleanup for those messy pastries.
Then comes the cleaning of the mat. All you do is rinse it with warm soapy water, as I've never seen anything actually stuck to it. It can tend to feel a bit slimy, but that's just the nature of the material. Storage is very convenient as well, as you can roll it up and even stick it in your silverware drawer!
I really have no reason not to recommend this product. It saves time, is cheaper than less effective sprays, and is convenient. I wouldn't cook without one... or two.

(More customer reviews)I had to trim these to fit the loaf pans I use, but it was very easy with a box cutter and straight edge. They work pretty good for baking but more material stuck to them than to parchment paper. They did peel off the loafs easily though. They don't clean as easily as the woven type do and when they are dry, if you have 2 or more they stick together and you have to peel them apart like colorforms. Also dish towel lint sticks to them.

(More customer reviews)We looked high and low for a scraper I could use comfortably to clean caked on food off with. I have arthritis in my hands and the usually scrapers are tiny little hard plastic things I can't grip most nights.
This scraper is much larger than you might expect from the picture. It fits very nicely in my hand. Because it is silicone, it will not damage your cookware no matter how you are using it. It fits securely in your hand so when you are scraping out a bowl of batter or whatever, it won't be slipping out of your hand in such a way that you end up contaminating your food with your hand, or covering your knuckles in cake batter.
We've decided to go ahead and get a few more of these - one to keep by the sink for scraping off cooked-on foods, one to use for scraping bowls with meat products - like when using ground beef for burgers or meatloaf, and one to use for things like batter and such.
Another added bonus to the silicone - it is heat resistant, so you can use it to scrape sauces, gravies and the like out of hot pans. Particularly handy if you're trying to make a roux and want to loosen up all the little cooked bits off the bottom of your pan before adding your flour.

Cookies slide right off, frozen food doesn't stick, even cheese nachos can be made on this and slid right onto the serving plate. Yes, you read that correctly. I make nachos right on this and scoot them onto a plate when they come out of the oven.

A few hints:
1) DON'T OIL IT. If you add oil then it will become sticky. Sounds odd, but I had a friend over and she oiled it and it now is sticky. The sticky stuff finally came off with some major scrubbing, but don't oil it.
2) I found that when using new silicone baking mats I like to "break them in" because they tend to outgas on first use. I bake them with nothing on them for about 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven. I have never had problems with this, but you do it at your own risk.
3) Don't be scared to put the mat directly onto your oven racks. I find that I get the best results this way. You can use it on a pan if you feel more comfortable that way.
4) Be aware of the maximum temperature for your mat.
5) Buy at least two so you can make batches of cookies with it.
6) Don't forget that if you are cooking at 350 degrees, the mat will be 350 degrees, so DON'T grab it with your hands. I can sometimes pull aluminum foil liners directly out of the oven (my friends say I have "asbestos" hands) because of their low heat capacity, but I can't do it with these.

My favorite use: Low fat chicken tenders (my own personal recipe).
Cut chicken breasts into strips about 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch by however long you want them.
Soak them (refrigerated) in low or nonfat milk for 1/2 hour with 1 clove of garlic, quartered for every two breasts. Make sure the milk covers the pieces.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Dredge the chicken pieces, leaving the garlic behind, in a mixture of bread crumbs, salt and pepper. If you want, use flavored bread crumbs. I also use a little chipotle powder or chile powder when I want them spicy.
Bake chicken on ungreased baking mat until done, usually about 20 minutes. About 5 minutes before they are done, flip them over, to dry the bottom side.
Do not move the chicken on the mat until just before they are done.
My wife loves these. They are not as crispy as fried ones, but they are much healthier.

(More customer reviews)I think I own one of almost every kitchen gadget known to man, and used to rely on parchment to bake cookies without worrying about sticking. I got a Silpat for my birthday and love it. I use it for cookies, just like the other reviewers mention, but find it is most useful for kneeding bread dough or rolling out sugar cookies or pie crusts. No more over or under-flouring my kneeding/rolling surface, because I can just peel off the dough if it gets stuck! Pie crusts transfer without cracking. My bread dough is amazing, because I never over-flour, which can ruin bread dough. Clean up is very fast. I store mine rolled up in an old paper towel tube in a drawer.

Silicone Solutions Black Bread Baking Set Review

(More customer reviews)I've had a couple of serious problems with this set since I got it last year.
1) Cleaning is a Pain. Silicone is floppy, so it's really hard to scrub, which is sometimes necessary despite its being more or less a nonstick surface. You can put it in the dishwasher, but mine still has trouble getting all the cooking spray off of it, and the pans take up so much room.
2) It's nice to be able to pull a lightweight loaf pan out of the oven with one hand. Not possible with these because of the floppiness. I'm not sure why flexibility is cited as a bonus in their use and care manual.
3) Probably my biggest objection: despite the manual promising that the bakeware is "oven safe/heat resistant up to 500F (260C)," mine starts emitting very silicone-ish fumes around 450F. When I make drop biscuits, which are baked at 450 for only about 12 minutes, they come out tasting rather like silicone. I have never used abrasive soaps or scouring pads on any of the bakeware, so I don't know why that would be happening.
I give the set two stars because of the two spatulas: they work very well, they clean easily, and the wood has held up even after numerous times in the dishwasher, though it's probably not a good idea to do that long term.

Wilton Silicone Ultra-flex Silicone Bakeware Set Cake Pan, Loaf Pan, Muffin Pan Review

(More customer reviews)I bought a burgundy-red version of this set in a home & garden specialty store when I was last in Washington, D.C. in just February of this year. I have gotten into cooking bread, so the loaf pan has been used almost weekly since its purchase.
The first thing I noticed was the blackening of the silicone pan edges. Can't get that off, but I supposed that is to be expected with regular baking. The more critical issue, however, is that it seems to have been the signal of bigger trouble. First the right lip fell away and now the left. And it gave up holding its upright loaf shape well before that (presumably because "ultra-flex" is code for "much too thin"). I don't mind the bowed bread (we eat it anyway), but when I came across a used silicone bread pan from another brand and compared the results, I couldn't help but find this one inferior.
I cannot recommend this item for regular use.

Magic Dough Non Slip Flexible Pastry Mat Review

(More customer reviews)The mat is wonderful for rolling out pastries, and I was surprised by the utility of the measuring circles that are printed on it. But I was seeking to replace a much heftier board, and for kneading stiff bread dough, the "non-slip" feature simply wasn't up to the task. The lateral motion used in kneading overcame the friction between the underside of the mat and the wooden table it rests on. It didn't go flying across the room, mind you, but it did have an annoying tendency to wander.
On the other hand, being able to roll the mat up and tuck it out of the way, rather than find room for a large board, has been a definite plus.

Amazon shipped me a ROUND mold that looks nothing like the item pictured here, and would not be suitable for making a pandoro. Numerous attempts at customer service only resulted in additional ROUND molds being sent or offers for a refund. Look elsewhere if you actually want a STAR shaped mold. If you order here, you will get the wrong kind.
Basically, wrong item shown here! Hope Amazon can fix it!
